Spending Summer 2024 in Lagos: South Portugal June & July Events and Activities

As the summer sun bathes the picturesque coastal town of Lagos in golden light, a flurry of excitement and activity fills the air. From July to September, Lagos comes alive with a diverse array of events and festivities, promising unforgettable experiences for locals and visitors alike. With a rich tapestry of cultural celebrations, culinary delights, and thrilling sports competitions, Lagos invites you to immerse yourself in its vibrant tapestry of sights, sounds, and flavors. Join us on a journey through the highlights of Lagos' summer calendar, where every day brings new discoveries and cherished memories waiting to be made.


Lagos has announced an exciting lineup of summer activities scheduled between July and September. In July, the festivities will commence with the Lagos Food Fest, running from July 13 to 16 at Praça do Infante and Jardim da Constituição, featuring a variety of unique national food trucks. Additionally, there will be outdoor concerts by the Algarve Orchestra led by maestro Martim Sousa Tavares on July 14 and 15 at the ‘Antigo Ciclo Preparatório’ on Rua Vasco da Gama.

A major highlight in July will be the Arte Doce sweets fair and competition, happening from July 26 to 30 at the local sports complex. This event will offer a diverse selection of traditional regional and national sweets, along with food stalls, children's entertainment, showcooking events, and performances by renowned Portuguese bands and artists.



For book enthusiasts, Lagos will host a Book Fair from August 5 to 15 at Praça do Infante, featuring live music, dance performances, games, storytelling sessions, and book presentations. The square will also be the venue for Lagos World Music, a festival bringing artists from various countries to the Algarve on August 5, 6, 12, and 13.


Wine tasting and Food tour:


Entertainment will extend to the parishes of Odiáxere, hosting its 33rd Folklore Festival on August 5, and Bensafrim, where the 19th edition of FEETAL will take place from August 11 to 13.


Cais da Solaria will come alive with the Lagos Summer Fest – Youth Festival on August 26 and 27, featuring popular DJs and the 'Banho 29' party, a beloved tradition where people take a midnight dip in the sea.


Beach activities and cave exploring:


September will kick off with ‘Noites no Cais’ at Jardim da Constituição and Cais das Descobertas, featuring concerts by Quorum Ballet and Maro. Additionally, Lagos will participate in the Algarve's tapas route 'Rota do Petisco' from September 15 to October 15, and the European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22, promoting environmental sustainability and a healthier lifestyle.


Sports enthusiasts can also look forward to various events, including the Regatta Portos dos Descobrimentos Palos de La Frontera – Lagos (July 7-9), Volta ao Algarve à Vela (July 20-22), 32nd Baía de Lagos Race (August 6), and the Oceanic Regatta Lagos-Funchal (August 23-28).
