The Park and National Palace of Pena

Brief Description: The ªPena Palaceª is a royal palace in Sintra, widely recognized due to it's colourful and romantic architectural style. It represents one of the main expressions of 19th-century architectural Romanticism in the world, being the first palace of this style in Europe. Became National monument in 1910 and a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. 

Year Built: 1838-1847 (on previous structure from 1200s)
Highlights: UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mix of architectural styles like neo-Gothic, neo-Manueline, neo-Islamic, neo-Renaissance with other artistic influences, including Indian motifs.
