Portuguese School of Equestrian Art

Brief Description: Old institution of horse breeding and training initiated by King D. João V following the European trend, aiming to supply the Royal Riding School with domestically produced saddle horses of the High School. 

Year Founded: 1979, Horse breeding started in 1748. The School is housed in the Queluz Palace which was built in 1747.

Highlights: 49 Purebred Lusitano horses, oldest horse breed in the world. Enchanting atmosphere of the 18th-century Portuguese court. Watch training sessions of the horses and riders in preparation for Royal Gala Shows.
